Experience design that brings people together

For the Deep Dig Vinyl Bazaar, we turned Rose Alley Alehouse in New Bedford into a record store for a day. We brought the collaboration together around music, giving people a reason to gather while raising funds for Third Eye Youth Empowerment. A familiar neighborhood bar became the setting for unexpected new connections between music collectors, cultural practitioners, and the public.

The concept began with 6,000 records that belonged to Scott Bishop’s late brother, Ed. We saw an opportunity to give the collection a second life, creating an event that put the records into new hands while supporting a cause important to Scott: Third Eye helps young people find their voice through hip-hop culture, art and community organizing. The Deep Dig Vinyl Bazaar put a shared love of music to work for that mission. The concept also brought new, diversified programming to Rose Alley Alehouse, inviting people to browse, listen and gather. That spirit continues through a forthcoming book designed by Moyer Bell Studio, featuring Samantha Garlington’s photographs, and a record listening lounge at the Star Store.
